Abstract

Penggunaan sumpit kayu sekali pakai semakin bertambah banyak seiring berjalannya waktu. Karena sifatnya yang sekali pakai maka sampah yang dihasilkan juga sangat banyak, hal tersebut mengakibatkan penumpukkan limbah sumpit pada pembuangan akhir. Belum banyak pengolah limbah sumpit sehingga menyebabkan ketidakseimbangan antara sampah yang terus bertambah dan yang berhasil diolah. Salah satu perusahaan pengolah limbah sumpit kayu mengubah limbah tersebut menjadi material baru berbentuk panel yang mirip dengan lembaran kayu. Material berupa panel tersebut selanjutnya diubah menjadi produk final dengan nilai tinggi meskipun berbahan dasar dari limbah sumpit. Dalam mendukung dan melanjutkan pengolahan tersebut, dibutuhkan lebih banyak pengembangan ide produk menggunakan material panel olahan limbah sumpit kayu sebagai material utamanya, seperti produk home decor. Penelitian dilakukan dengan mengumpulkan data informasi dan observasi mengenai panel olahan limbah sumpit kayu untuk lebih memahami material. Dalam perancangan diawali dengan mendesain material panel menggunakan pendekatan jenis-jenis pola dan tekstur. Hasil analisis kemudian menjadi acuan menentukan konsep ide produk lampu hias. Pengembangan ini diharapkan dapat membuka potensi penggunaan material panel limbah sumpit kayu menjadi berbagai macam jenis produk home decor yang lebih luas.

The use of disposable wooden chopsticks has increased over time. Due to their disposable nature, they generate a large amount of waste, resulting in the accumulation of chopstick waste in landfills. The lack of chopstick waste processors has led to an imbalance between the increasing amount of waste and the amount that can be processed. One company that specialising in the processing of wooden chopstick waste converts the waste into a new material in the form of panels similar to wooden sheets. The panel material is then converted into high value final products despite being made from chopstick waste. To support and continue this processing, more product ideas are needed that use processed wooden chopstick waste panels as the main material, such as home decor products. The research was conducted by gathering data and observations regarding processed wooden chopstick waste panels to better understand the material. The design process began with designing the panel material using an approach based on patterns and textures. The results of the analysis were then used as a reference to determine the concept for decorative lamp products. This development is expected to open up the potential for using wood chopstick waste panel material in a wider variety of home decor products.
