Abstract

Micro, small, and medium enterprises are a key pillar of Indonesia’s economy and many are led by women entrepreneurs or womenpreneurs, yet training outcomes are often difficult to sustain once participants return to everyday routines and their social environment. This study evaluates the ITS Womenpreneur Training Program by examining post training social barriers, factors shaping business sustainability, and the extent to which the training supports participants in addressing these barriers. A qualitative approach was employed using Focus Group Discussion with program alumni and thematic analysis guided by social learning theory. The findings indicate that family and community support is frequently absent in the early implementation stage and tends to emerge only after visible results, weakening participants’ motivation, while social stigma and demands for proof further constrain the application of learned practices. Business sustainability is influenced by internal factors such as difficulties separating household and business roles, spousal involvement, financial management, and marketing consistency, as well as external factors including limited capital and customer pressures related to pricing and turnaround time. Practical and applicable content with clear examples facilitates behavioral imitation, but limited practice opportunities and follow up reduce consistent application. These findings highlight the need for post training reinforcement through family engagement, operational implementation support, and continued practice and mentoring, while contributing to SDG 5 by strengthening women’s economic empowerment.
