Abstract

Jepara Regency is one of the regions in Central Java Province recognized as a center of furniture and wood carving industries, possessing strong cultural values and international competitiveness. According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics of Jepara Regency in 2020, there were 3,945 furniture industries, 320 wood craft industries, and 38 rattan craft industries, indicating the strength of the wood-based creative industry sector. In addition, the tourism sector has also experienced growth, as reflected in an 11% increase in tourist arrivals during the 2019-2024 period, which has consequently increased the demand for accommodation facilities. Syailendra Hotel, as a two-star hotel located in the city center, has potential through its strategic location and available facilities. However, since its establishment in 2015, the development of Syailendra Hotel’s interior design has not shown significant improvement. Based on observations and customer reviews, a problem was identified in which the hotel’s interior design insufficiently represents the hotel’s identity. Therefore, this final project aims to redesign the interior of Syailendra Hotel Jepara with a modern concept combined with local cultural elements to strengthen the hotel’s identity and enhance its competitiveness. The proposed concept is expected to create a more memorable spatial experience for visitors while reinforcing the character and identity of the interior space. The design process applies the Design Thinking method consisting of five stages empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test.
