Abstract
Pengelolaan sampah organik rumah tangga memiliki potensi ekonomi tinggi jika diolah menjadi pupuk kompos. Proses pencacahan merupakan tahap krusial untuk memperluas permukaan material sehingga laju dekomposisi dapat dipercepat. Namun, efektivitas pengomposan sangat bergantung pada spesifikasi ukuran partikel, sementara mayoritas mesin pencacah konvensional saat ini hanya menghasilkan satu variasi ukuran keluaran tunggal. Hal ini menjadikan hasil cacahan kurang fleksibel untuk berbagai kebutuhan pengolahan lanjutan. Untuk mengatasi keterbatasan tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan melakukan rancang bangun mesin pencacah sampah organik skala rumah tangga berkapasitas 10 kg/jam yang terintegrasi dengan sistem pemilah output bertingkat menggunakan mekanisme engkol-ayunan (crankrocker mechanism). Metodologi penelitian dimulai dari tahap perhitungan rekayasa teknis, pemodelan tiga dimensi menggunakan perangkat lunak CAD, hingga tahap manufaktur dan perakitan prototipe. Evaluasi alat dilakukan melalui pengujian kinerja dengan parameter utama berupa kapasitas pencacahan aktual (kg/jam) dan analisis profil distribusi sebaran massa. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa mesin berhasil melampaui target desain awal dengan mencatatkan rata-rata kapasitas pencacahan aktual sebesar 16,99 kg/jam. Sistem pemilah secara simultan mampu mendistribusikan cacahan ke dalam tiga fraksi ukuran dengan rata-rata 37,67% fraksi halus (<10 mm), 24,13% fraksi sedang (10-20 mm), dan 29,50% fraksi kasar (>20 mm). Profil distribusi ini terbukti sangat dinamis bergantung pada karakteristik fisik material, seperti kadar air dan tingkat kaitan serat.

Household organic waste management holds significant economic potential when processed into compost. Shredding is a crucial step in expanding the material's surface area to accelerate decomposition; however, composting effectiveness is highly dependent on particle size specification, while most conventional shredding machines produce only a single output size, limiting their flexibility for further processing needs. To address this limitation, this study designs a household-scale organic waste shredding machine with a target capacity of 10 kg/hour, integrated with a multi-level output sorting system driven by a crank-rocker mechanism. The research methodology encompasses engineering calculations (cutting force, shaft design, V-belt transmission, and kinematic analysis), three-dimensional modeling using CAD software, and prototype manufacturing and assembly. The prototype was evaluated through performance testing, with actual shredding capacity (kg/hour) and mass distribution profile as the main parameters. Test results show that the machine exceeded its design target, achieving an average actual shredding capacity of 16.99 kg/hour. The sorting system simultaneously distributed the shredded output into three size fractions, averaging 37.67% fine (<10 mm), 24.13% medium (10–20 mm), and 29.50% coarse (>20 mm). This distribution profile proved highly dynamic, depending on the material's moisture content and fiber entanglement.
