Abstract

This design departs from the theory of design as perversion, which views architecture as a practice that can be understood as a normative shift and operates as a medium of power. This shift is interpreted through the support of biopolitical theory, which explains how control over bodies and lives is exercised not through direct coercion, but through normalization, systems, and spatial regulation. In that framework, George Orwell's 1984 is used as a context to understand the extreme forms of propaganda and the collapse of human resistance. The metaphorical method in design is used to translate the fiction of 1984 into a contemporary reality closely related to capitalism. The translation is carried out through a satirical approach that represents the control system in the form of gamification, allowing the propaganda mechanism to be explored through architectural experience. The translation process serves as the foundation for strategy formulation in design, connecting fictional narratives with spatial experiences in the context of reality. This design results in an arcade positioned as an operational system of architecture to explore how propaganda subtly works through enjoyable experiences, repetition, and voluntary acceptance in the context of contemporary capitalism. Architecture is positioned as a medium of critique that reveals the dialectic between propaganda and the weakening of human resistance to a system, without offering normative solutions, but rather as a critical exploration of how architectural deviations can operate within the biopolitical context of contemporary capitalism
