Abstract

The Joyoboyo Surabaya Intermodal Terminal (TIJ) serves as one of the main public transportation hubs, strategically located as the gateway to the southern part of Surabaya. However, the terminal currently faces challenges in the form of declining user activity and low levels of comfort. This condition is particularly evident in the interior area, which has not succeeded in creating a meaningful spatial experience or strongly representing the identity of the place. As part of public facilities that function as transportation hubs, terminals should not only be viewed from a utilitarian perspective, but also be expected to radiate the image and identity of the city while building an emotional connection with its users. In this case, the application of the branding concept in interior design plays an important role in fostering positive perceptions and providing a more pleasant and memorable spatial experience for the community. The experiential-cognitive branding approach focuses on combining the sensory and emotional experiences of users (experiential) with the process of forming perceptions and memories of space (cognitive). Through the synergy of these two aspects, the interior design of the terminal is expected to create an atmosphere that fosters emotional attachment, comfort, and pride among users of public transportation spaces in the city of Surabaya.
