Abstract

Keberadaan manusia terkait erat dengan teori plastisitas, yang menyatakan bahwa manusia dapat beradaptasi tanpa batas dengan lingkungannya. Kemampuan untuk terus-menerus membentuk diri dan berevolusi seiring dengan lingkungannya menantang keyakinan bahwa identitas manusia bersifat tetap dan lengkap. Manusia dan dunia secara bersamaan berevolusi dan saling memengaruhi, membentuk hubungan timbal balik yang tak terputus. Siklus ini menghadapi tantangan yang dihadirkan oleh lingkungan binaan, khususnya kebutuhan akan privasi di area yang sensitif terhadap kebisingan. Dalam konteks arsitektur, privasi utamanya dirasakan melalui pengalaman sensorik manusia, baik yang diimplementasikan melalui elemen fisik maupun yang dirasakan melalui aspek formal seperti pembatasan ruang. Otak, sebagai artefak, menafsirkan pengalaman dan merasakan segala sesuatu yang ditemuinya untuk mendefinisikan batas spasial, sehingga memengaruhi bagaimana tubuh akan bereaksi. Pembatasan sensorik dalam ruang arsitektur secara signifikan berkontribusi pada pengalaman privasi dan dapat dicapai dengan memanfaatkan ilusi cahaya dan akustik untuk memanipulasi persepsi otak tentang privasi. Hal ini memediasi persepsi sensorik dan membentuk respons melalui elemen fisik arsitektur dan aspek psikologis lingkungan binaan. Landasan teoritis digunakan untuk memahami persepsi multisensori, menghasilkan pendekatan yang menerjemahkan kekuatan lingkungan ke dalam prinsip-prinsip desain yang diinterpretasikan melalui konsep persepsi memasuki gua untuk menciptakan pergeseran ke ruang tertutup. Studi ini menghasilkan desain pusat transit dan penginapan yang mengintegrasikan konsep-konsep ke dalam pengalaman spasial yang dibentuk oleh lapisan spasial, pencahayaan terkontrol, dan akustik yang difilter untuk memungkinkan penahanan sensorik yang mendukung persepsi privasi.

Human existence is attached to the theory of plasticity, which posits that humans can adapt infinitely to their surroundings. The ability to continuously reshape themselves and evolve in tandem with their environment challenges the belief that human identity is fixed and complete. Humans and the world simultaneously evolve and influence each other, forming an unbreakable reciprocal relationship. This cycle encounters challenges presented by the built environment, particularly the need for privacy in noise-sensitive areas. In an architectural context, privacy is primarily perceived through the human sensory experience, whether implemented through physical elements or sensed through formal aspects such as containment. The brain, as an artifact, interprets experiences and perceives everything it encounters to define spatial boundaries, thereby influencing how the body will react. Sensory containment within architectural space significantly contributes to the experience of privacy and can be achieved by utilizing luminous and acoustic illusions to manipulate the brain's perception of privacy. It mediates sensory perceptions and shapes responses through both the physical elements of architecture and the psychological aspects of the built environment. A theoretical foundation is employed to understand multisensory perception, resulting in an approach that translates environmental forces into design principles interpreted through the perceptual concept of entering a cave to create a shift to an enclosed space. This study results in the design of a transit stop and lodging that integrates these concepts into a spatial experience formed by spatial layers, controlled luminosity, and filtered acoustics to enable sensory containment that supports the perception of privacy.
