Abstract
Budaya ngopi kontemporer di Indonesia menunjukkan berkembangnya pola perilaku yang saling tumpang tindih pada berbagai milieu ngopi. Perilaku seperti bersosialisasi, bekerja, dan menikmati diskusi kopi, tidak lagi berlangsung secara eksklusif pada warung kopi, coffee shop, café-eatery, maupun coffee specialty. Adanya tumpang tindih tersebut mengantarkan pada tujuan perancangan untuk mengeksplorasi peleburan (melting) berbagai behavior setting budaya ngopi ke dalam satu milieu melalui eksperimen konfigurasi ruang yang tetap mempertahankan synomorphy. Perancangan ini menggunakan teori Behavior Setting Barker (1968) dan Degree of Fit Lang (2010) sebagai landasan evaluasi, dengan metode concept-based framework Plowright yang meliputi evaluasi tipologi, ekstraksi behavior setting, pemetaan kebutuhan ekologis, serta eksperimen kombinasi perilaku yang kompatibel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berbagai standing pattern of behavior budaya ngopi dapat direduksi menjadi empat behavior setting utama, yaitu socializing, working, grabbing, dan experiencing. Eksperimen menunjukkan bahwa behavior setting yang memiliki karakter ekologis serupa dapat dikombinasikan dalam satu milieu melalui pengaturan atmosfer, visibilitas, aksesibilitas, dan transisi spasial, sedangkan perilaku yang memiliki kebutuhan ekologis berbeda memerlukan strategi diferensiasi ruang. Temuan tersebut menghasilkan strategi perancangan berbasis peleburan behavior setting yang diwujudkan melalui tipologi Melting Pot of Coffee Culture sebagai pendekatan dalam mewadahi keberagaman budaya ngopi kontemporer secara synomorphic

Contemporary coffee culture in Indonesia reflects the emergence of overlapping behavioral patterns across various coffee settings. Activities such as socializing, working, and engaging in coffee-related discussions no longer take place exclusively in traditional coffee stalls, coffee shops, café-eateries, or specialty coffee shops. This overlap led to the design objective of exploring the fusion of various behavioral settings within coffee culture into a single environment through spatial configuration experiments that maintain synomorphy. This design employs Barker’s Behavior Setting theory (1968) and Lang’s Degree of Fit (2010) as the foundation for evaluation, using Plowright’s concept-based framework, which includes typological evaluation, behavior setting extraction, mapping of ecological needs, and experimentation with compatible behavioral combinations. The research results show that various standing patterns of behavior in coffee culture can be reduced to four main behavioral settings: socializing, working, grabbing, and experiencing. Experiments showed that behavior settings with similar ecological characteristics can be combined within a single milieu through the arrangement of atmosphere, visibility, accessibility, and spatial transitions, whereas behaviors with different ecological needs require spatial differentiation strategies. These findings led to a design strategy based on the “Melting Pot” concept of behavioral settings, embodied through the “Melting Pot of Coffee Culture” typology as an approach to accommodating the diversity of contemporary coffee culture in a synomorphic manner.
