Abstract
Metropolitan public spaces are often shaped by efficiency and commercial priorities, limiting opportunities for spontaneous interaction and everyday social engagement, particularly among urban youth. As a result, many public environments function primarily as spaces of movement and consumption rather than inclusive places that support informal gathering, creativity, and collective urban life. Play Theory and Ludic City theory highlight that movement, spontaneity, improvisation, repetition, and transgression are essential to reactivating metropolitan public spaces as inclusive and socially vibrant environments. The project adopts a deductive approach using analogy as the primary design method within a concept-based framework. Youth behaviors are translated through the Rhythmic Field concept, where movement patterns are interpreted into five spatial tendencies: flow, breaks, variation, tempo, and peaks, all transformed into architectural strategies through domain-to-domain transfer. These strategies establish judgement criteria that guide the development of spatial organization, building form, environmental response, and user experience. The proposed design is a youth-oriented Community Hub that organizes buildings and open spaces as a continuous rhythmic environment supporting exploration, informal gathering, creative activities, and collective engagement. Through a sequence of interconnected spatial moments, the project fosters social interaction and connectivity while responding to the behavioral rhythms of metropolitan youth. The project demonstrates how the Rhythmic Field can operate as an architectural framework for translating social behavior into spatial experience, contributing to more inclusive and socially active metropolitan public spaces.
