Abstract

Melalui Transformasi Berkelanjutan: Menafsirkan Pola Pikir Modifikasi sebagai Proses Tanpa Akhir di Mana Narasi Terus Berkembang dan Diujicobakan mengeksplorasi bagaimana logika budaya modifikasi dapat diterjemahkan menjadi kerangka arsitektur yang merangkul perubahan, adaptasi, dan pembaruan. Di Jakarta, modifikasi otomotif telah berkembang melampaui hobi mekanis menjadi ekspresi sosial mengenai identitas dan kreativitas, sementara banyak ruang arsitektur tetap statis dan tidak mampu berevolusi mengikuti kebutuhan penggunanya maupun dinamika konteks. Penelitian ini menjawab kesenjangan tersebut dengan mengusulkan sistem arsitektur yang berperilaku seperti praktik modifikasi, yakni struktur yang memungkinkan evolusi berkelanjutan terhadap narasi, fungsi, dan makna ruang. Landasan teoretis proyek menggabungkan pemikiran Henri Lefebvre dalam The Production of Space, yang memandang ruang sebagai produk sosial hasil interaksi, dengan gagasan Stewart Brand dalam How Buildings Learn, yang menempatkan bangunan sebagai sistem pembelajaran yang berubah seiring waktu. Melalui metodologi desain berbasis konsep, penelitian ini menerjemahkan prinsip modifikasi ke dalam strategi arsitektural yang menekankan fleksibilitas, pelapisan, dan perubahan temporal untuk menghasilkan “arsitektur hidup” yang berfungsi sebagai arsip sekaligus ruang eksperimental tempat narasi budaya dapat terus berkembang, berkonfigurasi ulang, dan mengekspresikan identitas dinamis komunitasnya.

Through Continuous Transformation: Interpreting Modification Thinking as an Endless by evolving and experimental narratives how the logic of modification culture can be reinterpreted as an architectural framework that embraces change, adaptation, and renewal. In Jakarta, automotive modification has evolved beyond a mechanical hobby into a social expression of identity and creativity. However, most architectural spaces remain static, unable to evolve with their users or contexts. This research addresses that gap by proposing an architectural system that behaves like modification itself, a structure that supports the continuous evolution of its narratives, functions, and meanings. The theoretical foundation combines Henri Lefebvre’s The Production of Space, which views space as a social product shaped by interaction, and Stewart Brand’s How Buildings Learn, which frames architecture as a learning system that adapts through time. Using a concept-based design methodology, the project translates modification principles into architectural strategies of flexibility, layering, and temporal change. The result is a “living architecture” that acts as both archive and experiment, a space where cultural narratives can continuously evolve, reconfigure, and express the dynamic identity of its community
