Abstract

Based on statistical data, 6.1% of Indonesians aged 15 years and over experience mental health problems. Psychological and emotional problems faced by urban communities in Indonesia are increasing due to factors such as air pollution, traffic congestion, work demands, social tensions, and lack of green open spaces being the main causes of increasing stress, anxiety, depression, and mental fatigue. In this context, theories such as Biophilia, Architecture and Emotion Design, and Therapeutic Architecture offer design approaches that can help improve the psychological and emotional well-being of city dwellers. The methodology used in this design is a force-based framework by analyzing the context, culture, and needs derived from theory and site conditions. This design presents an integration of educational and relaxation spaces for urban communities so that preventive, curative, promotive, and rehabilitative efforts for psychological health can be accommodated. Spaces designed with attention to the relationship between humans and nature, emotional elements, and recovery can be a solution to the increasingly pressing mental health problems of urban communities in Indonesia. Designs that support this well-being are essential to improving the quality of life of increasingly busy and isolated urban communities.
