Abstract

The increasing demand for healthcare services has resulted in a high number of outpatient visits, which currently dominate service activities at various healthcare facilities. This situation demands the availability of quality physical service facilities, particularly in the lobby and waiting area, to support a positive perception of service quality. As a Type B hospital, Dr. Harjono Ponorogo Regional General Hospital is required to continuously maintain optimal service quality. However, observations of the outpatient unit identified issues such as an unclear orientation system, crowded waiting areas during peak hours, suboptimal visual elements, and facilities that lack comfort. These conditions have the potential to cause confusion, increase patient stress, and impact ease of navigation and the quality of the user experience. This design aims to redesign the interior of the outpatient unit lobby and waiting area to optimally accommodate user needs, facilitate circulation, provide adequate capacity, create a stress-reducing atmosphere, and strengthen the identity of Dr. Harjono Ponorogo Regional General Hospital. The method used refers to the Double Diamond framework, encompassing the stages of discover (data collection), define (analysis and problem formulation), develop (concept development), and deliver (final design results). The design results indicate that patient accumulation in the outpatient waiting room can be resolved through layout arrangements that successfully increased the seating capacity by 41 seats. This solution is integrated with the Therapeutic concept to optimize the physical and psychological comfort of users through natural lighting, ventilation, and ergonomic furniture. Furthermore, the Corporate Visual Identity (CVI) concept is applied to the interior elements and service systems to reinforce the visual identity of the room. Through this comprehensive approach, the design is expected to create a more well-directed and comfortable waiting room, while simultaneously strengthening the image of RSUD Dr. Harjono Ponorogo as a reliable healthcare facility.
