Abstract

Perpustakaan umum memiliki peran sebagai sarana pendidikan, penelitian, pelestarian, informasi, dan rekreasi bagi masyarakat. Seiring perkembangan kebutuhan pengguna, perpustakaan tidak lagi hanya berfungsi sebagai tempat membaca dan meminjam buku, tetapi juga sebagai ruang belajar, kolaborasi, dan eksplorasi pengetahuan. Perpustakaan Umum Kota Kediri telah menyediakan berbagai fasilitas dan koleksi untuk mendukung kegiatan literasi masyarakat, namun masih ditemukan beberapa permasalahan pada kualitas interior, seperti penataan ruang yang kurang optimal, keterbatasan aksesibilitas bagi penyandang disabilitas, serta lingkungan ruang yang belum sepenuhnya mendukung aktivitas belajar dan interaksi pengguna. Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang redesain interior Perpustakaan Umum Kota Kediri dengan pendekatan Supportive Learning guna meningkatkan fungsi perpustakaan sebagai ruang belajar publik yang inklusif, nyaman, dan interaktif. Metode yang digunakan adalah Design Thinking yang terdiri atas tahap empathize, define, ideate, prototype, dan testing. Hasil perancangan menghasilkan konsep ruang yang mengintegrasikan pendekatan Inclusive Environment dan Experiential Design melalui pengelompokan ruang berdasarkan aktivitas, penerapan furnitur ergonomis dan fleksibel, sistem wayfinding yang informatif, penggunaan elemen visual yang menarik, serta penyediaan fasilitas multimedia dan area kolaboratif. Penerapan konsep tersebut mampu mendukung kenyamanan, aksesibilitas, interaksi sosial, dan pengalaman belajar pengguna sehingga fungsi perpustakaan sebagai community learning space dapat lebih optimal.

Public libraries serve as centers for education, research, preservation, information, and recreation for the community. As user needs evolve, libraries no longer function merely as places to read and borrow books, but also as spaces for learning, collaboration, and the exploration of knowledge. The Kediri City Public Library has provided various facilities and collections to support community literacy activities; however, several issues regarding interior quality remain, such as suboptimal spatial layout, limited accessibility for people with disabilities, and an environment that does not yet fully support learning activities and user interaction. This study aims to redesign the interior of the Kediri City Public Library using a Supportive Learning approach to enhance the library’s function as an inclusive, comfortable, and interactive public learning space. The method used is Design Thinking, which consists of the following stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. The design outcome is a spatial concept that integrates the Inclusive Environment and Experiential Design approaches through the grouping of spaces based on activities, the use of ergonomic and flexible furniture, an informative wayfinding system, the use of engaging visual elements, and the provision of multimedia facilities and collaborative areas. The implementation of this concept supports user comfort, accessibility, social interaction, and the learning experience, thereby optimizing the library’s function as a community learning space.
