Abstract
The Tourist Gaze explains that tourists form perceptions of destinations through images, representations, and characteristics that differ from their everyday environment. In this design, the theory is used to understand how architecture can contribute to the attractiveness and recognition of a tourism destination. Architourism is positioned as a phenomenon that explains the relationship between architecture and tourism activities, rather than as the main theory or a fixed set of design principles. Based on this understanding, the project aims to create a Coastal Tourism and Lifestyle Destination that is attractive, functional, and responsive to coastal conditions and user needs. The design methodology applies Design Research with the Force-Based Framework to translate theoretical studies, precedent analysis, site analysis, user needs, and spatial programs into architectural decisions. The design findings are organized into three main forces: Visitor Movement and Tourism Function, Site and Environmental Response, and User Needs and Public Activity. The final design produces a mass configuration that integrates recreational, fitness, culinary, and public facilities within a coastal tourism area. The main building masses are oriented toward the beach to maximize ocean views, while the curved roof functions as a shading element, weather protection, and a unifying architectural feature. The separation of visitor, vehicle, and service circulation supports safety, comfort, and operational efficiency.

Tourist Gaze menjelaskan bahwa wisatawan membentuk persepsi terhadap destinasi melalui citra, representasi, dan karakter yang berbeda dari lingkungan sehari-hari. Dalam perancangan ini, teori tersebut digunakan untuk memahami bagaimana arsitektur dapat berkontribusi terhadap daya tarik dan pengenalan sebuah destinasi wisata. Architourism diposisikan sebagai fenomena yang menjelaskan hubungan antara arsitektur dan aktivitas pariwisata, bukan sebagai teori atau prinsip desain utama. Berdasarkan pemahaman tersebut, perancangan ini bertujuan menghasilkan Tourism and Lifestyle Destination yang menarik, fungsional, serta responsif terhadap kondisi pesisir dan kebutuhan pengguna. Metodologi perancangan menggunakan Design Research dengan Force-Based Framework sebagai kerangka kerja untuk menerjemahkan hasil kajian teori, preseden, analisis tapak, kebutuhan pengguna, dan program ruang menjadi keputusan desain. Proses perancangan mengelompokkan temuan ke dalam tiga kekuatan utama, yaitu Visitor Movement and Tourism Function, Site and Environmental Response, serta User Needs and Public Activity. Hasil perancangan menghasilkan konfigurasi massa yang mengintegrasikan fasilitas rekreasi, kebugaran, kuliner, dan ruang publik dalam satu kawasan wisata pesisir. Massa utama diarahkan ke pantai untuk memanfaatkan pemandangan laut, sedangkan atap melengkung berfungsi sebagai peneduh, pelindung cuaca, dan elemen pemersatu bangunan. Pemisahan sirkulasi pengunjung, kendaraan, dan servis mendukung keamanan, kenyamanan, serta efisiensi operasional kawasan.
