Abstract

Hubungan antara tubuh manusia dan arsitektur secara historis dibangun melalui paradigma desain yang menjadikan tubuh statis sebagai acuan utama dalam pembentukan ruang, sehingga eksplorasi desain masih didominasi oleh representasi dua dimensional. Padahal, tubuh manusia pada hakikatnya bergerak secara dinamis di dalam ruang tiga dimensi. Kondisi tersebut memunculkan pertanyaan mengenai bagaimana pergerakan dinamis tubuh manusia dapat menjadi generator spasial arsitektur sekaligus menghasilkan ruang yang mampu memicu kembali pergerakan tubuh penggunanya. Perancangan ini bertujuan menghasilkan gagasan arsitektur melalui paradigma desain tiga dimensional dengan menjadikan pergerakan tubuh dinamis sebagai dasar pembentukan ruang. Metode perancangan menggunakan Concept-Based Framework yang dikembangkan dari teori Designing the Body, kemudian diterapkan melalui pendekatan process-level biomimicry dengan metode analogi terhadap mekanisme pembentukan ruang pada sarang semut. Analogi tersebut tidak diterapkan pada bentuk fisik sarang, melainkan pada prinsip-prinsip organisasi ruang, hirarki, dan mekanisme pembentukannya yang kemudian ditranslasikan menjadi parameter desain volumetrik. Hasil perancangan berupa knowledge hub dengan konfigurasi ruang non-planar yang terbentuk dari eksplorasi medium tiga dimensi berdasarkan analogi, organisasi ruang berdasarkan hirarki intensitas sosial, serta hubungan ruang yang kontinu sehingga memungkinkan tubuh bergerak dan beradaptasi secara lebih bebas. Dengan demikian, kualitas spasial yang tercipta pada perancangan ini, mampu memicu pergerakan dinamis tubuh manusia melalui desain ruang yang fluid, tidak datar, dan kontinu.

The relationship between the human body and architecture has historically been shaped by a design paradigm that positions the static body as the primary reference for spatial formation, resulting in design explorations that remain dominated by two-dimensional representation. However, the human body is inherently dynamic and moves within three-dimensional space. This condition raises the question of how the dynamic body movement can serve as a spatial generator for architecture while simultaneously producing spaces that stimulate the movement of their users. This design project aims to develop an architectural proposition through a three-dimensional design paradigm that employs the dynamic body as the basis for spatial formation. The design method adopts a Concept-Based Framework developed from the theory of Designing the Body, which is subsequently implemented through a process-level biomimicry approach using analogy as a method to examine the spatial formation mechanisms of ant nests. The analogy does not imitate the physical form of an ant nest but instead draws upon its principles of spatial organization, hierarchy, and formation mechanisms, which are then translated into volumetric design parameters. The resulting design is a knowledge hub characterized by a non-planar spatial configuration generated through the exploration of a three-dimensional medium based on analogy, spatial organization based on a hierarchy of social intensity, and continuous spatial relationships that allow the body to move and adapt more freely. Thus, the spatial qualities created through this design stimulate dynamic human bodily movement through fluid, non-planar, and continuous spatial configurations.
