Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) remains a public health issue that requires special attention due to the high number of cases and its impact on people's quality of life. West Java Province is one of the regions with a high number of HIV cases in Indonesia, so modeling is needed to identify factors that influence the number of HIV cases. The data used in this study is secondary data from 2024 obtained from West Java Open Data and the West Java Central Statistics Agency with 27 districts/cities as analysis units. The response variable used is the number of HIV cases, while the predictor variables include the percentage of hospitals, the percentage of community health centers, the percentage of health workers, the percentage of doctors, and the percentage of JKN participants. The methods used are Poisson regression and Negative Binomial regression, considering the population as the exposure variable. The analysis results show that the Poisson regression model experiences overdispersion with a dispersion value of 44.924, so the equidispersion assumption is not met. Therefore, modeling was carried out using Negative Binomial regression, which is more appropriate for count data with a variance greater than the mean. Based on the comparison of the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) value, residual deviance, and the results of forward selection, the Negative Binomial regression model with exposure was selected as the best model with an AIC value of 333.86 and a residual deviance of 27,500. The best model shows that the percentage of hospitals and the percentage of doctors have a significant effect on the number of HIV cases in West Java Province in 2024. The results of this study are expected to be the basis for consideration in planning more effective HIV control policies and programs.
