Abstract
Nilai CPI sebesar 1,17; LHCPI >1; TAR <1; Paq >0,4; WI <0,4; rasio n-C31/n-C19 sebesar 0,018; rasio 8β(H)-homodrimana/8β(H)-drimana sebesar 0,34; serta rasio 1-MP/9-MP sebesar 0,89 mendukung dominasi input organik akuatik.

Biomarker analysis of condensate oil from the Tangguh Field, Bintuni Basin, was conducted on aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbon fractions to determine the source of organic matter, depositional environment, and thermal maturity level. Biomarker characterization was performed through fractionation and compound identification using GC–MS. The results show a dominance of short- to medium-chain n-alkanes, with the highest abundance observed at n-C13, indicating that the organic matter source was predominantly derived from algae, phytoplankton, and aquatic bacteria, with a minor contribution from terrestrial organisms. CPI value of 1.17; LHCPI >1; TAR <1; Paq >0.4; WI <0.4; n-C31/n-C19 ratio of 0.018; 8β(H)-homodrimane/8β(H)-drimane ratio of 0.34; and 1-MP/9-MP ratio of 0.89 further support the dominance of aquatic organic input. The presence of hopanes and homohopanes indicates contributions from microorganisms, particularly bacteria, whereas C15 oleanane-derived sesquiterpanes and retene suggest a terrestrial organic matter contribution. The depositional environment is interpreted as a stratified marine system with vertically varying redox conditions. Distrbution of hopane and drimane indicate reducing marine conditions in the lower sediment layers, while Pr/Ph ratio of 3.63 and the Hunt diagram suggest oxic to sub-oxic conditions in the upper water column. Thermal maturity parameters, including OEP value of 0.99, C31 homohopane 22S/(22S+22R) ratio of 0.71 ;MNR >1; DNR >5; TMNr >0.35; TeMNr >0.35; MPI-1 >0.5; MPI-2 >0.5; MPI-3 >1; MPR >1.20; and Rc value of 0.8%, indicate a high level of thermal maturity, the samples in peak oil window stage. The Tangguh Field condensate oil originated from mixed Type II/III kerogen with oil- and gas-prone characteristics, dominated by aquatic organic matter input and having undergone advanced thermal maturation.
