Abstract

The Site of Sekolah Rakyat was designed as an integrated educational environment comprising elementary, junior high, and senior high school levels, complemented by dormitory facilities that support students' character development. The integration of educational and residential functions creates a holistic and sustainable learning ecosystem. The site is organized into two primary zones: the Education Zone and the Housing Zone, with facilities further grouped according to educational level. This planning approach emphasizes functional efficiency, spatial legibility, and effective circulation throughout the site. Responding to Jombang Regency's identity as the "City of Islamic Boarding Schools (Kota Santri)," the mosque is positioned as the central element of the development. This placement not only ensures equitable accessibility from all buildings but also reinforces the mosque's role as the primary orientation point. The design prioritizes a balance between cost efficiency and architectural quality. Materials such as exposed brick, ventilation blocks (roster), and clay roof tiles are applied contextually to create an architectural expression that is simple yet distinctive while remaining responsive to the local climate and surrounding environment. Sekolah Rakyat is envisioned as a place of hope by providing a safe, comfortable, and supportive learning environment for its users. The design approach focuses on enhancing the quality of spatial experiences to foster an optimal learning process. The Elementary School Girls' Dormitory adopts a design concept that emphasizes functional space planning and cost efficiency while maintaining aesthetic quality. This approach ensures that the dormitory provides a practical, comfortable, and visually appealing living environment that supports students' daily activities and development.
