Abstract

This report presents the architectural design process of two projects, namely the Sekolah Rakyat Elementary School Building in Surabaya and Amlu Villa in Selemadeg, Bali, as representations of the application of architects' competencies in responding to user needs, site characteristics, and environmental context. Although the two projects serve different functions, both emphasize the importance of integrating functional, technical, aesthetic, and sustainability aspects throughout the design process. The design of the Sekolah Rakyat Elementary School Building in Surabaya focuses on creating a safe, comfortable, and supportive learning environment through effective spatial organization, natural lighting, natural ventilation, and the provision of open spaces that encourage social interaction. Meanwhile, Amlu Villa in Selemadeg, Bali, adopts a design approach that responds to the tropical climate, landscape potential, and local values to create a living environment that is harmonious with its surroundings. The entire design process refers to the 13 Competency Standards established by the Indonesian Institute of Architects (IAI), encompassing needs analysis, concept development, and the formulation of design solutions that consider technical, social, and environmental aspects. This portfolio demonstrates that architectural design is a process that integrates creativity, knowledge, and professional responsibility to produce contextual, high-quality spaces that provide meaningful value for both users and the surrounding environment.
