Abstract

Armada sarana pelabuhan PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental (PTK) masih mengandalkan mesin diesel berbahan bakar fosil & FAME, sehingga diperlukan pilihan transisi yang mampu menurunkan emisi tanpa mengurangi kesiapan operasi kapal.

The port service fleet of PTK still relies on diesel engines fuelled by fossil diesel and FAME. A transition option is required to reduce emissions without compromising vessel operational readiness. This study develops an engineering decision framework to select the most balanced diesel-methanol configuration rather than to design a new engine. Six configuration alternatives were evaluated: B35M15, B35M20, B35M22, DF15, DF20, and DF25. The assessment used experimental data on power, torque, specific fuel oil consumption (SFOC), NOx, and CO₂. These data were used to construct the Performance Index and Emission Index, while the Readiness Index was derived from a questionnaire completed by the PTK Fleet Division. The weight of each parameter was determined using the Analytic Hierarchy Process. The three indices were then integrated using the Weighted Sum Model within a Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) framework to identify the most balanced configuration. The results show that engine response does not always change linearly with an increasing methanol fraction. DF20 achieved the highest Performance Index, although its emission and readiness scores were lower. B35M20 provided the best overall balance, with a Performance Index of 82.62, an Emission Index of 100.00, a Readiness Index of 100.00, and a final score of 94.79. This alternative remained in first place across 11 sensitivity scenarios. The CO₂ Emission Factor of B35M20 was 0.855136 kg CO₂/kWh, or 8.67% lower than that of B35. A tank-to-wake simulation covering 168 vessels, 9 vessel types, and 69 operating locations estimated that annual emissions could decrease from 472,129.23 to 431,208.03 tonnes of CO₂, corresponding to a reduction of 40,921.20 tonnes of CO₂ per year. Harbor Tugs provided the largest reduction potential, while Cilacap ranked as the priority location. Therefore, one Harbor Tug in Cilacap is recommended as the initial pilot project candidate. These findings position B35M20 as the preferred option for further verification of fuel formulation, safety, reliability, and onboard performance.
