Abstract

Rosemary (Salvia Rosmarinus) merupakan tanaman aromatik dengan kandungan senyawa bioaktif yang disintesis dan tersimpan pada trikoma glandular daun. Rosemary dikenal adaptif terhadap kondisi lingkungan yang tercekam, salah satunya yaitu cekaman unsur hara. Respons morfologi rosemary terhadap lingkungan tercekam masih terbatas. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh defisiensi kalium dan perlakuan pruning apikal terhadap pertumbuhan vegetatif dan karakteristik trikoma daun S. rosmarinus. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan lima perlakuan yaitu P0 (tanpa pruning + K 100%), P1 (pruning + K 100%), P2 (pruning + K 75%), P3 (pruning + K 50%), dan P4 (pruning + K 25%) dengan masing-masing tiga kali pengulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara statistik, perlakuan defisiensi kalium dan pruning apikal memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap luas daun tanaman (p < 0.05). Tetapi tidak memberikan perbedaan nyata terhadap parameter tinggi tanaman maupun karakteristik trikoma yaitu kerapatan, rasio, dan diameter trikoma. Daun yang diberikan perlakuan defisiensi kalium dan pruning apikal yaitu P2, P3, dan P4, memiliki rata-rata luas daun yang lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan P0 dan P1 yang tidak mengalami defisiensi kalium. Penurunan rata-rata luas daun pada perlakuan P2, P3, dan P4 secara deskriptif juga diikuti oleh kecenderungan penurunan jumlah dan diameter trikoma glandular pada daun rosemary. Pada seluruh perlakuan, trikoma glandular rosemary berbentuk globose dengan warna putih transparan hingga kekuningan, sedangkan trikoma non-glandular berbentuk rambut yang bercabang seperti bintang (stellate) dengan warna putih transparan.

Rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus) is an aromatic plant containing bioactive compounds that are synthesized and stored in the glandular trichomes of its leaves. Rosemary is known to be adaptable to stressful environmental conditions, one of which is nutrient stress. The morphological response of rosemary to stressful environments remains poorly understood. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the effects of potassium deficiency and apical pruning treatments on the vegetative growth and leaf trichome characteristics of S. rosmarinus. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments: P0 (no pruning + 100% K), P1 (pruning + 100% K), P2 (pruning + 75% K), P3 (pruning + 50% K), and P4 (pruning + 25% K), each with three replicates. The results showed that, statistically, potassium deficiency and apical pruning treatments had a significant effect on plant leaf area (p < 0.05). However, they did not result in significant differences in plant height or trichome characteristics, namely trichome density, ratio, and diameter. Leaves subjected to potassium deficiency and apical pruning treatments—namely P2, P3, and P4—had a lower average leaf area compared to P0 and P1, which did not experience potassium deficiency. The decrease in the average leaf area of treatment P2, P3, and P4 was also accompanied by a trend toward a reduction in the number and diameter of glandular trichomes on rosemary leaves. Across all treatments, rosemary glandular trichomes were globose in shape, ranging in color from translucent white to yellowish, while non-glandular trichomes were star-shaped (stellate) and branched, with a translucent white color.
