Abstract

Flood frequency prediction for early warning in Surabaya is needed by the government to anticipate flood events that often occur in Surabaya. Predictions were performed using two sources of data: river water elevation data obtained from measurement recordings carried out by the Department of Highways and Drainage, and rainfall data as well as rainfall intensity data obtained from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) derived from three monitoring stations in Surabaya, namely Juanda, Perak I, and Perak II during 2004–2008. Data were processed using the FP-Growth algorithm in order to obtain information on the frequency of flood occurrences, the frequency of factors influencing flooding, and information on factors influencing conditions before the flood (Alert Condition) in Surabaya. The results showed that the Dinoyo region is the most frequent area of flood occurrence at 17.2%. The highest factor influencing the occurrence of flooding is when rain occurs at the Perak I Monitoring Station, with a frequency of 88.54%. The most influential factor for the alert condition is when rain occurs at the Juanda Station, with a frequency of 56.04%.
