Abstract

Finite State Machine (FSM) is one of the artificial intelligence methods implemented in games. The implementation of FSM in a game results in a sequential scenario. This sequential scenario can be predicted by players easily and is one of the main factors that make players feel bored when playing the game again. A game is less repetitive if its scenario is dynamic and the NPC responses vary. This can be achieved using a non-deterministic finite state machine in the game. This research focuses on modeling Fuzzy State Machine and its implementation as a non-deterministic FSM method in a game. With the implementation of Fuzzy State Machine, NPC response variations can be achieved when interacting with the player, making the game more engaging to play repeatedly.
