Abstract

Communication can be conducted through verbal and non-verbal information. Verbal information can be obtained from written text composed of words, sentences, paragraphs, and other structures, which is then utilized for text information extraction using text classification. In the classification process, a dataset with known emotion classes—disgust, shame, anger, sadness, joy, and fear—is categorized using the Naïve Bayes and Multinomial Naïve Bayes methods. This study investigates the extent to which these two methods can effectively classify emotion data in the Indonesian language. Experimental results indicate that the Multinomial Naïve Bayes method achieves a document identification accuracy rate of 61.57% with a data split ratio of 0.6 by applying varied data preprocessing techniques.
