Abstract

Channel characterization is an important information for communication system performance. Parameters to indicate channel characterization such as signal arrival time, multipaths parameters include maximum excess delay, mean access delay, and RMS delay spread (Power Delay Profile), and path loss exponent. At 1.7 GHz frequency will be investigated shadowing effect and correlation, and using Kolmogorov-Smirnov goodness-of-fit test, signal distribution was fitting. The experimental platform uses a custom wideband D-MIMO LOS and NLOS communication system with a center frequency 1.7 GHz. The system operates by 2 array transmitters, 4 array receivers, and 4 port transmitters, using planar synthetic antenna which connected to network analyzer. Experimental data was processed by IFFT to transform into impulse response in time domain. The research concludes that delay tends to decrease in LOS environment, and for multipath parameters getting increase in NLOS environment. Path loss did not affect by distance and depend on multipath environment. Shadowing coefficient correlation in LOS experiment very small than in NLOS. Based on Kolmogorov-Smirnov goodness-of-fit test, signals are in Rician distribution for Laboratory LOS and hallway NLOS, and signals are in Rayleigh distribution for Laboratory NLOS and hallway LOS. For all models, in large scale variation, signals are in normal distribution. Application of indoor D-MIMO system at 1.7 GHz having higher capacity in LOS environment at hallway than at laboratory.
