Abstract

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the number one _silent killer_ in the world. According to the World Health Organization in 2019, CHD ranked first among the top ten causes of death, with the number of deaths continuously increasing from 2000 to 2019, reaching 8.9 million deaths in 2019. According to the World Health Organization in 2013, the largest proportion of the 9.4 million deaths caused by cardiovascular diseases was attributed to coronary heart disease. The number of deaths was estimated to increase to 23.3 million by 2030. According to the results of the Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) in 2018, the incidence of coronary heart disease increased from year to year, with the prevalence of coronary heart disease in Indonesia reaching 1.5%, meaning that 15 out of 1,000 Indonesians suffer from heart disease. In East Java Province, 2–3 out of 1,000 people suffer from coronary heart disease. Coronary heart disease was recorded as the fifth most common disease among the top ten outpatient diseases and the eighth most common disease among the top ten inpatient diseases at Dr. Soegiri Lamongan Hospital. Therefore, research on variables suspected of influencing coronary heart disease will be conducted at Dr. Soegiri Lamongan Hospital. The data were obtained from the medical records section of Dr. Soegiri Lamongan Hospital. There were eight predictor variables, namely age, gender, hypercholesterolemia, smoking status, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and family history of disease. The response variable consisted of two categories, namely heart patients with coronary heart disease and heart patients without coronary heart disease. The results of the binary logistic regression analysis showed that gender, hypertension, diabetes, and smoking status had an effect on coronary heart disease, with male heart patients who had hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, and diabetes having a 92.54% probability of suffering from coronary heart disease.
