Abstract

Economic growth is often used as a measure of a country's success. One of the indicators used to measure economic growth is Gross Domestic Product (GDP). APEC is a multilateral organization that focuses on economic cooperation and consists of 21 member countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The impact of COVID-19 experienced by these 21 countries provides the background for this study, which uses economic data from 21 APEC member countries, including GDP and predictor variables such as imports, exports, population density, the Global Competitiveness Index, government spending, labor force, and per capita income. This study aims to determine the predictor variables that have a significant effect on economic growth using panel data regression with the dynamic Arellano-Bond GMM model. The benefits of this research are to provide considerations or recommendations regarding policies that may be implemented in the respective countries based on the factors identified through the analysis. After conducting the analysis using dynamic panel regression with the Arellano-Bond GMM method, it was found that the variables affecting GDP are exports, government spending, labor force, and per capita income. All four variables have a positive effect, with the labor force variable having the largest influence. It is expected that this research can be used as one of the considerations in implementing economic policies in the respective countries and as a reference for further research.
