Abstract

Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that affects breast tissue and is one of the diseases most feared by women. However, recent findings show that men can also develop breast cancer, although such cases are still very rare. Breast cancer has different stages that describe the condition of the cancer, including its location, the spread of cancer cells, and the extent to which it affects other organs. In 2021, as many as 62.5% of patients at the Islamic Hospital of Surabaya Jemursari were diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer due to delays in seeking healthcare services. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the factors that influence the stage of breast cancer at the Islamic Hospital of Surabaya Jemursari so that people with medical histories associated with significant risk factors can be more aware and undergo regular health examinations. The method used was Binary Logistic Regression, with the response variable being the stage of breast cancer, categorized into stage IV and stages other than stage IV, and the predictor variables consisting of patient age, obesity status, psychological condition, and history of benign tumors. The results of the analysis show that the variables affecting the stage of breast cancer are obesity and a history of benign tumors. A person who is obese is 2.182 times more likely to have stage IV breast cancer than a person who is not obese. A person with a history of benign tumors is 4.761 times more likely to have stage IV breast cancer than a person without a history of benign tumors. The resulting model can correctly represent 71.2% of the observations.
