Abstract

The Government of the Republic of Indonesia has taken various measures to deal with the spread of the COVID-19 virus. One of the breakthroughs introduced by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia is the PeduliLindungi application. This application is used as a health surveillance tool by the government to address the spread of COVID-19 and relies on community contributions to share location data with one another. Every new user of the PeduliLindungi application wants to know the responses of previous users as a form of evaluation after using the PeduliLindungi application through reviews on the Google Play Store. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct sentiment analysis research on review data from the PeduliLindungi application to determine public sentiment toward the application. This research was conducted using the Naïve Bayes Classifier method with the Multinomial model. The Naïve Bayes Classifier (NBC) is an effective and efficient classification method. The NBC algorithm aims to determine the most optimal class, perform classification, and calculate the probability of a class with specific characteristics. This research was conducted to provide information as evaluation material for the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Communication and Information (KOMINFO). The results of this study showed that the majority of users expressed negative sentiments at 65%, while positive sentiments accounted for only 19.08%, and neutral sentiments accounted for 15.92%. Furthermore, reviews with positive sentiments included words such as "help", "accept", "please", "care", "good", and others. Meanwhile, reviews with negative sentiments included words such as "register", "difficult", "open", "born", "failed", and others. Classification accuracy was calculated using G-Mean and AUC because the data were categorized as imbalanced, with one class having a proportion of less than 35%. The G-Mean value of 0.6239 indicates that positive and negative sentiments from user review data of the PeduliLindungi application could be classified correctly at 62.39%, while the AUC value of 0.6323 indicates that the user review data of the PeduliLindungi application falls into the weak classification category, with a value of 63.23%.
