Abstract

Ocean Outfall is an underwater piping system of the sewage fluid waste from the shore to the sea. This Ocean Outfall construction is designed in such a manner for researches, in order to the waste that comes from the pipe (effluent) can be disseminated and diluted well to minimize the contamination of sea environment. The most important aspect which is influence of those spreading waste is initial dilution, which means a comparison the concentration of a thrown liquid waste pollutant on those in certain height level. Dissemination of liquid waste from a port will rise up and disseminate as the effect of buoyancy. The increasing of initial dilution is influenced by effluent velocity (waste disposal), port angle and the depth discharge. Besides, wave and current of the sea environment are factors that have to be calculated. This research is through by approached with initial dilution model which used the buoyant jet type at regular wave, which is examined about the effects of effluent velocity (waste disposal) and port angle diffuser variation. Effluent velocity 10 cm/s (Lo/ZM=2,22) has increase 1,28 times from stagnant water. Then for effluent velocity 25 cm/s (Lo/ZM=0,89) has increase 1,24 times from stagnant water. For maximum effluent velocity, is selected effluent velocity with 30 cm/s (Lo/ZM=0,74). The result for this dilution increase is 1,23 times from stagnant water. While, for the port angle variations, maximum elevation dilution is happened to the port configuration on 180° angle of wave direction (cross-flow) than port on 0° angle of wave direction (co-flow) with the differ increase 0,52%. The result of this research indicated that effluent velocity and port angle variation are affects the dilution increase.
