Abstract

Current and internal fluid flow induced vibrations occurring in the "dog leg" and gas pipeline system of the Total E&P Indonesie installed at the Mahakam river floor were analyzed. Both axial vibrations and transversal vibrations were considered. The system was modeled as 5 individual sections, as a continuous model each. The Lagrange principle was used to derive the equations of motion. Two package software, namely AutoPIPE and ANSYS, were used for the entire analysis. Manual computation was performed for selected cases to verify the use of the software. The results of the analysis showed that the vibrations were still within the safe limits. However, a suggestion was raised to reduce amplitudes for the largest section by providing a support in the mid span of the section.
