Abstract

Besi merupakan salah satu mineral penting yang dibutuhkan oleh tubuh manusia. Besi yang dikonsumsi oleh manusia adalah dalam bentuk ion, yaitu besi (II) dan besi (III). Pada penelitian ini dilakukan analisa besi dengan menggunakan pereduksi natrium tiosulfat dan pengompleks 1,10-fenantrolin pada pH 4,5 spektrofotometri UV-Vis. Senyawa kompleks besi (II) - 1,10-fenantrolin yang dihasilkan menyerap sinar pada panjang gelombang maksimum 511 nm. Senyawa kompleks tersebut dapat diganggu dengan adanya ion nikel (II). Konsentrasi ion nikel (II) yang ditambahkan adalah sebesar 0,05 ppm sampai 10 ppm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ion nikel (II) pada konsentrasi 0,08 ppm mulai mengganggu analisa besi dengan nilai prosen recovery yang diperoleh sebesar 82,93%.

Iron is one of important minerals required by human body. Iron consumed by human is in the form of iron (II) and iron (III). In this research, iron analysis was performed using UV-Vis spectrophotometry after addition of sodium thiosulphate and 1,10-phenanthroline at pH 4,5. The maximum absorption of complex Fe(II) - 1,10-phenanthroline was observed at 511 nm. The stability of the complex compound in the presence of nickel (II) was observed by adding nickel (II) in the range concentration of 0,05 - 10 ppm. The result showed that the presence of nickel (II) at 0,08 ppm in the 5 ppm iron (III) solution started to influence the iron analysis with recovery value of 82,93%.
