Abstract

Pada penelitian ini telah dipelajari penggunaan AlCl₃ dan ZSM-5 sebagai katalis dalam reaksi kondensasi isatin dan indol. Reaksi kondensasi isatin dan indol umumnya hanya menggunakan katalis asam Lewis atau asam Bronsted. Katalis ZSM-5 dipreparasi kemudian dikarakterisasi dengan teknik XRD, spektroskopi IR dan ditentukan keasamannya dengan adsorpsi piridin. Reaksi kondensasi isatin dan indol menggunakan pelarut asetonitril pada suhu kamar selama 150 menit. Hasil reaksi dikarakterisasi dengan KLT dan spektroskopi IR. Berdasarkan analisis tersebut, hasil reaksi dengan katalis AlCl₃ diindikasikan dapat menghasilkan trisindolina.

ZSM-5 and AlCl₃ as catalyst in the condensation reaction of isatin and indol have been studied. Generally, condensation reaction of isatin and indol have been catalyzed by Lewis or Bronsted acids. ZSM-5 was prepared followed by characterization by XRD, IR spectroscopy and acidity measurement of acidity by pyridine adsorption technique. Condensation reaction of isatin and indole was carried out by acetonitrile solvent at room temperature for 150 minutes. The products were characterized by TLC and IR spectroscopy. Based on this analysis, reaction catalyzed by AlCl₃ was indicated to produce trisindoline.
