Abstract

The essential oil of patchouli from Tempursari Malang has been determined. Leaf (A), stem (B) and stem-leaf mixture (C) patchouli dried under the sun heat for 2-3 days and distilled using hydrodistillation method. Yield of essential oils A, B, and C respectively 1.99%, 0.15%, and 2.36%. Patchouli oil was analyzed using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS). The analysis resulted a number of chemical components and the concentration of patchouli alcohol (PA), among others: volatile oil A (18 components, 53.49% PA); B (13, 58.59% PA) and C (30 components, 49.76% PA). The toxicity test of essential oils A, B, C obtained by the method BSLT with LC₅₀ value of each are 19, 53, 12.38, and 26.21 ppm. While the larvacide test with third instar larvae of Aedes aegypti, LC₅₀ values obtained respectively 94.34, 17.18, 97.46 ppm. Both patchouli oil has potential as an antioxidant because it can change the color of DPPH solution from purple to light yellow.
