Abstract

The use of detergent in Indonesia has become a secondary need but its waste flows to water resources. It makes water become polluted, especially becoming eutrophication. Eutrophication is caused by P (phosphorus) > 0.02 mg/L (Muller dan Hessel dalam Murphy, 2007), and detergent is one of P sources. P removal can be treated by biological treatment, cause microorganism needs it as an essential element. Compost contains essential elements and microorganisms, so it can be used for biological treatment. This research uses compost, especially matured compost with C/N ratio < 20 to remove P with microbiological attached growth. This research uses variations such as media variations (25% compost : 75% sand, 50% compost : 50% sand, 75% compost : 25% sand) and ratio C/N variations (10, 15, 20). Reactors are running for 7 days and with three times repeating (triplicate). The result of this research is a reactor with optimum composition (50% compost : 50% sand, C/N = 10), it has a removal mean 47.7%/day. And compost that has highest removal is UDPK Compost which has big porous.
