Abstract

The development of Surabaya has indirectly led to an increase in building construction. One of the buildings currently under construction is the Diagnostic Center on Dharmawangsa Street, which is expected to increase traffic volume due to trips generated by the Diagnostic Center at Dr. Soetomo General Hospital in Surabaya. The purpose of this final project is to determine the extent of the impact and influence of the Diagnostic Center at Dr. Soetomo General Hospital in Surabaya on travel patterns and to identify the most appropriate trip attraction model for the building. The study began by examining the problems arising from the development of the Diagnostic Center at Dr. Soetomo General Hospital in Surabaya, followed by the collection of supporting data, including land area, parking area, and the number of employees. This study determines the amount of traffic attracted by the operation of the Diagnostic Center building. Based on the trip attraction data obtained, trip attraction models were developed using the following variables: Y Y (number of cars) = 462 − 4.64 × land area − 0.049 × parking area, representing the number of parked cars based on land area and parking area, and Y Y (number of motorcycles) = 1828.19 × land area + 0.0327 × parking area, representing the number of parked motorcycles at the Diagnostic Center and comparable hospitals based on land area and parking area. Based on the results of the interview survey conducted at the Diagnostic Center, the visitor characteristics were identified as follows: the majority of visitors came for health examinations, totaling 122 people or approximately 61%; the majority used motorcycles as their mode of transportation, totaling 85 people or approximately 42.5%; the majority lived 11–15 km from the building, totaling 64 people or approximately 32%; and the majority visited the facility 1–2 times per month, totaling 55 people or approximately 27.5%.
