Abstract

Flat plate structure is a structural system that offers several advantages compared to other structural systems, such as being economical and easy to implement, and also requiring simple formwork in its construction. The performance of a flat plate can be enhanced by utilizing a prestressed structural system on the floor.
One of the design methods that can be used for the analysis of this prestressed flat plate structure is the equivalent frame method. In this method, the dimension ratio of the column cross-section as well as the length-to-width ratio of the panel play a significant role in structural stiffness. There are several equivalent frame method formulations that can be applied in engineering design, including SNI 03-2847-2002 which refers to ACI 318M-99, and British Standard 8110 (BS). Both of these codes have different procedures for calculating bending moments in slabs, particularly in determining the column strip width.
From the study, it can be concluded that the BS method is slightly better at predicting bending moments obtained from finite element analysis compared to SNI. The finite element method is considered an accurate method for predicting the actual behavior of flat plate structures. The larger the aspect ratio of panel length to width, the more inefficient the SNI and BS formulations become. For panels with a length-to-width aspect ratio equal to 1.5, the bending moment profile of the middle strip at the support shows an opposite sign, which is positive. Based on both standards, this value should always be negative. This will certainly lead to errors in rein
