Abstract

Karakter geokimia batubara sub-bituminus Bukit Pinang Samarinda Ulu,
Kromatografi Gas-Spektrofotometer Massa (KG-SM). Hasil karakterisasi
menunjukan keberadaan senyawa n-alkana dengan rentang karbon C10-C26, alkana
bercabang (C9-C11), sikloheksana (C7-C15), turunan alkilbenzena (C8-C15), alkilfenol
turunan naftalena, turunan flourena, isomer-isomer dimetil bifenil, fenantrena, dan
turunan pirena.

============================================================

Geochemical characteristicr of sub-bituminus coal from Bukit Pinang Samarinda
Ulu, East Kalimantan showed that it is classified as coal with low thermal maturity
and calorific value (6158 kcal / kg). Coal was liquified in 1L autoclave reactor for 60
minutes at 450 C and 12 MPa to obtain slurry product. Slurry products was further
fractionated based on boiling point using a 10 mm Hg vacuum distillation. Obtained
fractions include naphtha, Light Oil (LO), Middle Oil (MO), Heavy Oil (HO), and
coal Liquid Bottom (CLB). The weight percentage data showed that liquifaction
product were dominated by factions Heavy Oil and Coal Liquid Bottom with a total
percentage more than 50%. Light Oil and Middle Oil are further fractionated by TLC
and eluent n-hexane to obtain the aliphatic and aromatik fractions. The composition
of aliphatic and aromatik fraction in naphtha, Light Oil and Oil Middle were
characterized using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrophotometer (GCMS). The
result of GCMS characterizations showed the presence of compounds such as nalkanes
with carbon range C10-C26, branched alkane (C9-C11), cyclohexanes (C7-C15),
(C7-C15), alkylbenzenes derivatives (C8-C15), alkylphenols, naphthalene derivatives,
flourene derivatives, isomers dimethyl biphenyl, phenanthrene, and derivatives of
pirena. These compounds were thought to originate from thermal cracking and radical
rearrangement of the coal macromolecules. The dominance of heavy fraction
suggested that the liquefaction method was less than optimal to obtain liquid product
from the coal used
