Abstract
Perkembangan peternakan di Indonesia sudah sangat pesat. Peternak dituntut untuk mencari solusi agar proses penggemukan hewan ternak tetap berlangsung saat kemarau tiba. Pakan ternak alternatif salah satunya dapat diperoleh dari limbah pertanian, yaitu tongkol jagung. Agar efisien, untuk menunjang pengolahan pada proses pencampuran pakan ternak utama dengan pakan ternak alternatif maka diperlukan sebuah mesin pengaduk tipe horizontal.
Pada tugas akhir ini akan dilakukan pembuatan mesin pengaduk tipe horizontal melalui perhitungan elemen-elemen mesin. Langkah – langkah yang dilakukan untuk tujuan tersebut adalah: observasi alat pengaduk, studi literature, pengambilan data, desain alat, pengadaan alat, perakitan alat dan kemudian pengujian alat. Sehingga dapat mengetahui besarnya gaya transmisi yang terjadi dan daya yang dibutuhkan dalam menggerakkan poros pengaduk.
Hasil perhitungan pada mesin pengaduk untuk kapasitas 60 kg/jam didapatkan ukuran wadah adonan dengan diameter 210 mm dan panjang 636 mm, gaya pengaduk 17,159 N, mesin penggerak dengan daya 1,9 HP dan putaran 2000 rpm. Sistem transmisi: belt yang digunakan V-belt A32, rantai yang digunakan rantai rol dengan nomor rantai 60 dengan nilai Fmax=740kgf.

The development of animal husbandry in Indonesia has been very rapid. Breeders are required to find a solution to the process of fattening cattle persists when the drought arrived. Alternative livestock feed one of them can be obtained from agricultural waste, namely corn cobs. To be efficient, to support the processing in major livestock feed mixing process with an alternative animal feed would require a horizontal mixer.
In this final task will be making horizontal mixing machine through calculation of machine elements. Steps - steps taken for this purpose are: observation stirrer, literature study, data retrieval, tool design, procurement of equipment, assembly tools and then testing tools. So as to know the magnitude of the force transmission occurs and the power needed to drive the stirrer shaft.
The calculation in the mixer for a capacity of 60 kg / h obtained dough container size with a diameter of 210 mm and 636 mm length, style agitator 17.159 N, the engine driving power of 1.9 HP and 2000 rpm rotation. Transmission system: belt used V-belt A32, the chain used roller chain with a chain number 60 with a value of fmax = 740kgf.
