Abstract

Produksi pabrik phosphoric acid (PA) PT. Petrokimia
Gresik sering terganggu disebabkan oleh kegagalan berulang
pada rantai bucket elevator. Kegagalan yang terjadi adalah
putusnya link dan pen rantai bucket elevator. Penelitian ini
menganalisa dan menyimulasikan penyebab kegagalan dari rantai
bucket elevator.
Simulasi dilakukan untuk mendapatkan penyebab utama
kegagalan rantai bucket elevator dengan menggunakan metode
elemen hingga. Data pendukung yang diperoleh berupa gambar
kerusakan, riwayat downtime, kondisi aktual operasional dan
datasheet dari rantai bucket elevator. Material yang digunakan
untuk rantai adalah SCM 4/AISI 4137.
Berdasarkan perhitungan analitis, gaya yang diterima
rantai sebesar 17 KN, jauh di bawah batas yang diijinkan yaitu
sebesar 343,35 KN. Tegangan maksimal yang diterima rantai
melalui simulasi software sebesar 147,52 Mpa, dibawah tegangan
maksimal yang diijinkan yaitu sebesar 415 Mpa. Berdasarkan
simulasi terhadap pembebanan fatigue, rantai dapat bertahan
selama 142 hari, mendekati kondisi aktual rantai sebesar 118 hari.
Faktor lain penyebab kegagalan adalah misalignment antara
lubang baut pada bucket dengan lubang baut pada rantai yang
mengakibatkan tegangan awal sebelum pembebanan. Desain baru
untuk link dalam yang telah disimulasikan menghasilkan
pengurangan tegangan maksimal yang diterima rantai sebesar
16.84 Mpa atau 11.4 %. Umur link dalam meningkat sebesar 114
hari atau 80.2% dengan pembebanan yang sama.

Factory production of phosphoric acid (PA) PT. PKG
frequently interrupted due to the repeated failure of the chain
bucket elevators. Failure happened is breaking links and pen chain
bucket elevators. This research analyzed and simulates cause of
the failure of the chain bucket elevators.
Simulations performed to obtain the main cause of the
failure of the chain bucket elevators by using the finite element
method. Supporting Data were Obtained form of pictures of the
damage, downtime history, the actual operational conditions and
datasheet of the chain bucket elevators. The material used for the
chain is SCM 4 / AISI 4137.
Based on analytical calculations, the force received a chain
of 17 KN, far below the allowable limit in the amount of 343.35
KN. Maximum stress received the chain through the simulation of
software was 147.52 MPa, below the maximum allowable stress is
equal to 415 Mpa. Based on the simulation of the fatigue loading,
the chain can last for 142 days, closer to the actual condition of the
chain at 118 days. Another factor cause of failure was the
misalignment between the screw holes in the bucket with the screw
holes in the chain that leads to the initial stress before loading. The
new design for the inner link that has been simulated resulted in a
reduction in the maximum stress received by chain to 16.84 MPa or 11.4%. The life of the inner link increased by 114 days or 80.2%
with the same loading.
