Abstract
Terumbu karang buatan (artificial reef) merupakan bangunan atau struktur yang diletakkan dibawah air yang memiliki fungsi seperti terumbu karang alami. Selain itu, terumbu karang buatan juga berfungsi sebagai bangunan pemecah gelombang ambang benam (submerged breakwater). Ketika diletakkan pada perairan dangkal, struktur akan rentan mengalami masalah scouring dan penurunan tanah yang dapat menimbulkan kegagalan struktur. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan serangkaian percobaan untuk mengetahui karakteristik scouring akibat variasi jarak gap struktur dan variasi gelombang pada terumbu buatan bentuk heksagonal dengan permodelan fisik skala 1:10. Hasil penelitian dapat dimanfaatkan dalam perencanaan perlindungan struktur akibat masalah scouring. Dari hasil penelitian yang dilakukan di Laboratorium Lingkungan dan Energi Laut Jurusan Teknik Kelautan FTK ITS, diperoleh untuk jarak gap 1D, scouring terbesar terjadi pada belakang struktur, sedangkan pada jarak gap 0D terjadi pada bagian depan struktur. Pada bagian tengah struktur untuk jarak gap 0D, didominasi kejadian sedimentasi, sedangkan pada jarak gap 1D, didominasi kejadian scouring. Kedalaman scouring maksimum adalah 5.3 cm dan nilai terkecilnya 2.9 cm. Dari keseluruhan percobaan diperoleh kedalaman scouring maksimum terjadi pada struktur dengan jarak gap 1D sedangkan minimum pada jarak gap 0D.

Artificial reef is a structure placed underwater which has similar function with natural reef. In addition, artificial reef also serves as a submerged breakwater. When placed in shallow water, the structure is vulnerable to scouring and soil subsidence which can cause structural failure. In this research, serial testing have been conducted to determine the scouring characteristic for variation of gap, and variation of waves, for hexagonal artificial reef model with scale of 1:10. The results of this research can guide the planning of structural protection against scouring. From a series of research conducted in Ocean Environment and Ocean Energy Laboratory, Ocean Engineering Department, FTK, ITS, it can be summarized that for a gap distance of 1D, the maximum scouring occurs behind the structure, whereas for a gap distance of 0D, it occurs at the front of the structure. At the center of the structure, for a gap distance of OD, sedimentation occurs dominantly, whereas for a gap distance of 1D, scouring dominated the process. Maximum scouring depth is 5.3 cm and the minimum is 2.9 cm. The maximum scouring depth occurs when the gap is 1D and minimum when the gap is 0D.
