Abstract

Water becomes a more serious problem in which watering is so essential to obtain optimal crop. However, in some areas, it becomes a problem in which the waterflow cannot fulfill the needs of every rice fields. It is caused by some factors; one of them is the lack of water along the flow to the rice field. One of the areas having this problem is Western Seram or Seram Bagian Barat (SBB) Regency which is located in Seram Island. There are some problems happening in Kairatu I irrigation area in which the waterflow is not sufficient in some rice field compartments, especially on dry season. It is caused by some factors and the lack of water also causes the water flowing to the tertiary rice field is not sufficient to irrigate all areas in the rice field. One of the attempts to solve the water lack along the flow to the rice field and to increase the flow in Kairatu I irrigation area is by changing the lining duct in Kairatu I irrigation area, especially on the area which is still the natural duct made from soil.
From the observation, it is found that the secondary and the tertiary ducts in which lining process has been done, have good efficiency; while the tertiary duct which has natural one has low efficiency. The total of efficiency of Kairatu I irrigation area = 74%, so that to improve the efficiency of the existing irrigation, the change of lining is done for tertiary duct using concrete. From the lining change, it is found that it can improve the irrigation efficiency to be 80%, and it can gain more crop profit in the amount of ±7% or ± Rp.3,481,200,000.00
