Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkarakterisasi material komposit Silicone Rubber berpenguat filler Oil Palm Shell (cangkang kelapa sawit) untuk penyerapan suara. Permasalahan yang dikaji untuk mengetahui nilai koefisien absorpsi suara, sifat mekanik, sifat fisik, serta morfologi material komposit dengan membandingkan variasi komposit fraksi massa penguat. Komposisi fraksi massa filler yang digunakan adalah 1%, 3%, 5%. Untuk menghasilkan pori (porous) pada Silicone Rubber agar mampu menyerap suara lebih baik, ditambahkan garam dapur (NaCl). Cangkang kelapa sawit yang sudah melalui proses akan berbentuk powder dan dimasukkan ke dalam campuran Silicone Rubber dan NaCl. Dari hasil pengujian didapatkan nilai koefisien absorpsi suara tertinggi yaitu 0.44 pada frekuensi 4000Hz yang dihasilkan oleh komposit Porous 100% Silicone Rubber. Untuk kekuatan tarik tertinggi diperoleh komposit Porous Silicone Rubber/3%wt Oil Palm Shell. Dan untuk nilai densitas tertinggi terdapat pada komposit Porous Silicone Rubber/5%wt Oil Palm Shell. Material hasil penelitian ini berpotensi untuk diaplikasikan sebagai material sound absorption pada muffler sepeda motor.

The aim of this research was to characterize the composite material of Oil Palm Shell reinforced Silicon Rubber as sound absorption. The problems were studied to determine the value of sound absorption coefficient, mechanical properties, physical properties, as well as the morphology of composite materials by comparing the variation of mass fraction composite of the filler. The composition of the mass fraction of filler used was 1%, 3%, 5%. Salt (NaCl) was added to produce porous on Silicone Rubber to be able to absorb the sound better. Oil Palm Shell that have been through the process will take the form of powder and put in a mixture of Silicone Rubber and NaCl. From the test results, the highest sound absorption coefficient was 0.44 at 4000Hz frequency generated by the composite Porous 100% Silicone Rubber. The highest tensile strength of the composite obtained Porous Silicone Rubber / 3% wt Oil Palm Shell. The highest density value contained in the composite Porous Silicone Rubber / 5% wt Oil Palm Shell. Material results of this research has the potential to be applied as sound absorption material on a motorcycle muffler.
