Abstract

Regression is a statistical method to explain the relationship between response variable and predictor variables based on central measurement of response variable The data often has a heterogeneous distribution, which it caused by outliers. If the heterogenous data are modeled by regression, it will generate large residual. Modeling the heterogenous data is not appropriate enough using measurement of central tendency, but it needed the model that can explain the outliers. Quantile regression (QR) is one method of modeling data that can explain the variable responses in each quintile and can be applied to the data that has a residual that not homogeneous. Heterogenous residual can generate global model that not able to explain all the data so it needed the local model in each region by incorporating elements of spatial. One statistical method that considers the element of location is Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) for non stationary data and using a weighted location in estimating parameters. In this research will be using approach to analyze the relationship nonstationary spatial data and the distribution of the response variable using QR and GWR. Parameter estimation in QR examined in this study with minimized loss function using linear programming Simplex. Application on life expectancy using QR generate different parameters for each quantile and GWR generate parameters for each location. Comparison of the two methods by comparing the RMSE in each quintile where RMSE of the GWR method is smaller than QR method in each quantile.
