Abstract
Permasalahan yang ada di lingkungan sekitar dapat dimodelkan menjadi suatu sistem baru yang mencakup variabel - variabel dan operasi matematika. Semakin banyak variabel permasalahan yang ada, semakin besar pula sistem yang terbentuk sehingga penyelesaiannya membutuhkan waktu yang lama pula. Perlu adanya penyederhanaan sistem atau lebih dikenal dengan reduksi model. Sistem awal dan sistem tereduksi tentunya memiliki orde yang berbeda sehingga hasilnya tidak dapat dibandingkan secara langsung. Tugas Akhir ini membahas bagaimana mengidentifikasi sistem tereduksi waktu linier kontinu sehingga sistem dapat bersesuaian dengan sistem awal. Metode yang digunakan untuk reduksi adalah metode pemotongan setimbang, dimana metode tersebut mampu mempertahankan sifat awal sistem seperti kestabilan, keterkendalian dan keteramatan sistem. Selanjutnya Identifikasi sistem dilakukan dengan mendapatkan penyelesaian persamaan sistem awal,sistem setimbang dan sistem tereduksi.

Problems in surroundings can be modeled into new systems including variables and mathematical operations. The more variable involved, the greater the system is formed so that completion takes a long time. Thus it needs simplification of system or better known as model reduction. The initial system and reduced system have different order so that the result cannot be compared directy. This research discusses how to identify reduced continous-time linear system so that initial system and reduced system can be compared with initial system. The method used is balanced truncation, which is able to maintain characteristics of initial system such as stability, controllability and observability. System identification is accomplished by getting solution of nitial system, balance realization and reduced system.
