Abstract
Biodiesel sebagai bahan bakar renewable memiliki viskositas, densitas dan tegangan permukaan lebih tinggi dibandingkan solar. Hal ini menyebabkan dalam pemakaiannya menghasilkan atomisasi yang kurang homogen yaitu berupa proses pemecahan butiran bahan bakar dan evaporasinya lebih lambat. Proses pemanasan merupakan salah satu cara untuk menurunkan ketiga properties tersebut. Namun pemanasan yang terlalu tinggi berefek kurang baik karena dapat menurunkan kemampuan pelumasan dari bahan bakar serta jumlah massa bahan bakar yang mengalir lebih sedikit. Berdasarkan hal tersebut maka perlu dilakukan penelitian besarnya suhu pemanasan biodiesel terbaik pada mesin diesel yang dioperasikan dengan sistem dual fuel.
Pengujian dimulai dengan penerapan sistem pemanasan bahan bakar menggunakan elemen pemanasan yang dikontrol dengan thermocontrol dengan pengaturan suhu biodiesel divariasikan mulai 25 0C (tanpa pemanasan), 40 0C, 55 0C, 70 0C. Selanjutnya pemanasan tersebut diuji pada mesin diesel stasioner sistem dual fuel yang dioperasikan pada putaran konstan 2000 rpm. Pembebanan dimulai dari beban 200 hingga 2000 Watt dengan interval kenaikan pembebanan 200 Watt. Parameter yang diukur adalah waktu konsumsi bahan bakar biodiesel 10 ml, arus, tegangan, laju aliran massa syngas, laju aliran massa bahan bakar, suhu operasional yaitu suhu oli pelumas, suhu exhaust/gas buang, suhu radiator atau cairan pendingin.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada mesin diesel sistem dual fuel biodiesel-syngas diperoleh nilai presentase substitusi syngas terhadap biodiesel terbaik pada kondisi temperatur pemanasan biodiesel 40 oC dengan pembebanan 100% dan putaran konstan 2000 rpm yakni sebesar 40,69%. Nilai specific fuel consumption (sfc) mengalami penurunan terendah sebesar 15,6%, sedangkan nilai efisensi termal naik sebesar 26,1% yang dicapai pada temperatur pemanasan biodiesel 40 oC dengan pembebanan 100% dan putaran konstan 2000 rpm jika dibandingkan biodiesel tanpa pemanasan (27 0C). Sehingga temperatur pemanasan terbaik untuk mesin diesel system dual fuel biodiesel-syngas injeksi langsung adalah 40 oC.

The test starts with the application of fuel heating systems using heating elements controlled by the temperature setting biodiesel thermocontrol varied from 25 0C (without warming), 40 0C, 55 0C, 70 0C. Furthermore, the heating is tested on a stationary diesel engine dual fuel system that operated at constant speed 2000 rpm. Charge initiated from a load of 200 to 2000 Watt with 200 Watt loading increment interval. Parameters measured were the time biodiesel fuel consumption 10 ml, current, voltage, syngas mass flow rate, mass flow rate of fuel, ie operating temperature lubricating oil temperature, the temperature of exhaust, radiator or coolant temperature.
The results showed that the system of dual fuel diesel engine biodiesel-derived syngas syngas substitution percentage values against the best biodiesel biodiesel heating temperature conditions of 40 ° C with 100% loading and constant rotation 2000 rpm which is equal to 40.69%. Rated specific fuel consumption (sfc) experienced the lowest decline of 15.6%, while the value of thermal efficiency increased by 26.1% achieved in biodiesel heating temperature 40 oC with 100% loading and constant rotation of 2000 rpm when compared biodiesel without heating (27 0C). So that the heating temperature best for dual fuel diesel engine system biodiesel-syngas direct injection is 40 oC.
