Abstract

Mobile device such as notebook, handphone, tablet and
others began evolving on wireless technology, which is now as the
progress indicator of human civilization, enabling communication
device communicate directly with another in moving motion and
without any fixed or temporary infrastructure networks, this kind
of networks are called as MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc Network). In
MANET, each node move freely, so that the network sustain
topology change fast. Cause node in MANET posses limited range,
some nodes cannot communicate straightly another.
Therefore, this final project researched is the scheme of
MANET which is produced by file node movement and traffic
pattern that already exist on network simulator allocation. This
research uses NS-2 as a network simulator with reactive MANET
protocols type called DSR (Dynamic Source Routing) and AODV
(AdHoc On Demand Distance Vector Routing), along using
transmission model such as TwoRayGround and Nakagami as
comparison on NS-2. Afterward, the system of this final project
functionality and performance are examined pass through some
determined scene. The results of the examination is performance
xii
of transmission model TwoRayGround and Nakagami in reactive
routing protocol (AODV and DSR) in MANET surrounding using
NS-2. The performance of routing protocol is measured by routing
overhead, packet delivery ratio, and delayed packet sent from a
node to another. AODV shows bad results at Packet Delivery Ratio
while using TwoRayGround propagation, but it shows best delay
handling.
