Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan data kesetimbangan cair-cair sistem terner DEC + 1-Propanol+ H2O pada range suhu 303,15 - 333,15 K dan tekanan atmosfer (101.3 + 1 kPa ) . Peralatan utama dari eksperimen ini yaitu equilibrium cell yang dilengkapi dengan jaket penukar panas. Eksperimen ini diawali dengan memasukkan sampel ke dalam equilibrium cell dengan komposisi tertentu dan mengatur suhu di dalam equilibrium cell dengan mensirkulasikan air dari water bath ke dalam jaket penukar panas. Kemudian sampel diaduk dengan magnetic strirrer selama 4 jam, berikutnya didiamkan selama 20 jam agar fase organic dan aqueous terpisah secara sempurna. Sampel fase organik dan aqueous diambil secara terpisah untuk dianalisa komposisinya sebagai komposisi kesetimbangan menggunakan Gas Chromatography 2010 Plus. Penelitian diulangi untuk komposisi awal yang berbeda agar diperoleh tie line atau model kurva yang terdistribusi secara merata pada range komposisi kesetimbangan. Data yang diperoleh dari masing-masing suhu dikorelasikan dengan persamaan Non-Random Two-Liquid (NRTL) dan Universal Quasi-Chemical (UNIQUAC) yang memberikan Root Mean Square Deviation (RMSD) dari komposisi kesetimbangan masing – masing sebesar 0.40 % dan 0.37 % . Dari diagram terner yang dihasilkan dapat disimpulkan untuk system DEC + 1-Propanol + H2O mengikuti system Treybal tipe 1 pada range suhu yang diteliti.

The objective of this study was to determine experimentally liquid-liquid equilibrium data for ternary system DEC + 1-Propanol + H2O at temperature range 303.15 - 333.15 K and atmospheric pressure (101.3 + 1 kPa ). The main experimental apparatus is equilibrium cell equipped with heat exchanger jacket. The experiment was started by adding ternary mixture into equilibrium cell with certain composition. Temperature in the equilibrium cell were controlled to certain equilibrium temperature by circulating water from water bath into heat exchanger jacket. Afterwards, the sample was stirred by magnetic stirrer for 4 hour and it was allowed to settle for 20 hours in order to be completely separated into organic and aqueous phases. The composition of each phase were analyzed using Gas Chromatography 2010 Plus. The experiments were repeated for different initial composition to obtain tie line or curve model distributed well in the range of equilibrium composition. The experimental data were correlated using Non-Random Two-Liquid (NRTL) and Universal Quasi-Chemical (UNIQUAC) giving Root Mean Square Deviation (RMSD) between experimental composition are calculated ones of 0.40% and 0.37% respectively. From the ternary diagram obtained in this work was found that the system studied shows treyball type 1 behaviour.
