Abstract

The use of solar energy by using solar collectors has been studied to optimize the available solar energy sources. One method for harnessing solar energy is to use solar collectors. The utilization of solar energy by using solar collector absorber has been commonly used in the drying process. To make a solar collector with performance optimized, the efficiency of its thermal needs to be improved, as for increasing the thermal efficiency of the solar collector one way to expand the field of absorption and enhance the convection heat transfer coefficient by creating turbulence in the duct solar collector v-corrugated absorber, turbulence flow can be achieved by providing obstacle disruption of triangles and half-cylinder fins to the direction of flow of the working fluid channel below the heat sink plate.
This research was conducted with the 3D numerical simulations of turbulence Viscos Steady flow with k-omega SST and experimental. The objectives expected from numerical simulations to determine the diameter and spacing fins optimum of variation in the diameter of 6 mm, 8 mm and 10 mm, with a variation of the distance to the obstacle fins 0,25L; 0,5L and 0,75L, from the simulation results, the most optimum fins seen bedasarkan ratio ΔP / ΔT ie fins with a diameter of 6 mm and the distance to the obstacle 0,75L then testing experiments and varying the mass flow rate of 0.002 kg / s ; 0.004 kg / s; 0.006 kg / s; 0.008 kg / s and insentitas radiation 431, 575 and 719 Watt / m² on the rate of heat transfer and efficiency. Use of the materials used for the fins are of solid aluminum, with fins 20 mm high. Solar collectors are used in this research, the solar collectors using v-corrugated absorber plate with the obstacle and the addition of a half-cylinder-shaped fins are arranged in staggered.
The Results obtained from this research that the amount of useful energy which absorbed by the working fluid is directly proportional to the increase in the mass flow rate and the intensity of the radiation. The magnitude of the efficiency of solar collectors in the test is directly proportional to the increase in the mass flow rate but is inversely proportional to the intensity of the radiation. results of experimental highest quse the mass flow rate of 0.008 kg / s to the intensity of radiation 719 Watt / m² ie 80.789 Watt and highest efficiency of 93.84% achieved in the mass flow rate of 0.008 kg /s for 432 Watt / m².
