Abstract

===================================================================================================== “Photoluminescence Study of Reduced Graphene Oxide Synthesized from Coconut Shell” has been carried out by utilizing the waste raw materials of old coconut shell. The purpose of this work is to determine the effect of temperature and concentration of solution through exfoliation process from photoluminescence analysis results. The main materials used in this study is coconut shell. This research used a variation of temperatures at 400oC, 600oC, 800oC, 1000oC for 5 hours in ambient air. In this study the exfoliation rGO was performed in distilled water (aqua DM) with variation of concentration solution 0,001 mg/ml, 0,002 mg/ml, and 0,003 mg/ml using the sonication process for 3 hours and centrifugation for 20 minutes (4000 rpm). The characterization were performed by using XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The XRD analysis showed that the reduced graphene oxide phase was formed as indicated by diffraction peaks at 2θ~24o from the sample heated at 400oC temperature. Observation showed that the photoluminescence intensity was significantly increased by the increasing content of rGO in the solution. The influence of varying temperatures on the rGO solution causes a shift towards the PL emission peak wavelength which is smaller as the temperature increases.
